The book's story is a direct continuation of the novel Then
Their ranks have been drastically thinned. Most of them have suffered fatal losses that are so difficult to cope with. Yet they are driven by the desire to survive in a new, terrifying world full of pitfalls. If they had hoped for help from outside, this hope is fading day by day. They realize that they can only rely on themselves, on their abilities and cooperation. And they discover that the growing armies of the infected are not the worst danger that awaits them.
"The author brings a post-apocalyptic novel that throws the whole world into chaos caused by the spread of the pandemic. In the complete destruction of previous order, he develops the fates of several characters - all of whom can be named Karolína Tremešná, Ondřej Lánský, Brise Hanken, Martin and Julia, Professor Harry or little Marika. We can observe the loss of human identity, established social relationships and complete alienation. Against the background of these events, the plot encourages the reader to ask questions about the variability of human behavior. How can people function under completely different conditions? How can their nature change? How far are they willing to go to survive? Is humanity disappearing? And can we even trust ourselves? In this story, we can see several parallels with the current or recent times. In addition to the literary Czech language, the author also uses common Czech, which makes the characters more authentic. Although the work is very long in scope (1,160 pages), thanks to the alternation of images, the author manages to maintain a fast pace. The reader remains in suspense until the very end. The entire book consists of 23 chapters, which are further graphically divided into subchapters. At the beginning, we find a summary of the plot of the previous part, "Afterwards", which greatly supports the reader's comfort. At the very end, we find an epilogue and thanks to the reader. Thanks to the style of narration and the chosen topic, the work has great potential to appeal to a wide reader base.
